Yeah. The puns aren’t going away. Sorry about that. We’re here at the end of week 3 of the 52 week challenge, and this week was the first week where we weren’t seeing a film that we had to see, and so we decided to see “Sing“.

Now, this is not a bad film by any means. It’s very much what it looks like, a cute kids film about anthropomorphic animals in a singing competition. The theatre owner trying to save his theatre through it is sort of sweet.
Unlike a great many kids films, this one didn’t really have as many “jokes” for the adults in the audience who were seeing it. There is a fart joke, that the childish part of me found hilarious. But largely it was very aimed at it’s target demographic. Which is a good thing. If I had kids I’m sure they’d be telling me to be nicer about it.
Reese Witherspoon’s Rosita was probably the character to appeal to the mum’s in the audience who feel like they are being unfairly expected to do everything. Rosita is the overworked parent doing anything to give herself some time to herself.
All in all, a great kids film. Take them if you have them, they’ll love it. For adults… it’s watchable, but certainly not one you’ll come back to over and over.
